The course of international contracts focuses on contract law & theory in the digital and platform economy
According to the European Law Institute (ELI):
'The digital economy is increasingly shaped by online platforms serving as marketplaces where customers can buy goods or book services (eg Airbnb, Uber, Amazon). Their dynamics can be difficult to reconcile with the currently existing regulatory framework at EU level'
Precisely, the course deals with:
The European legal framework for online platforms
Contract Law and the platform economy: formation, drafting, execution and cross-border enforcement issues
Consumer Contracts (B2C)- Oggetto:

The course is intended to provide students with a thorough knowledge of and deep insight into
- contract law problems and solutions in the platform economy
- contract law in a comparative and European perspective
The course also aims to provide students with a practical knowledge of the main clauses and drafting techniques for international sale contracts in the platform economy
By the end of the course, students will be able to:
- identify applicable rules to international contracts, regardless to their origin (national,
supranational, public or private);- understand the key-factors to be considered in order to choose the best legal structure for a specific international contract (ie applicable law, choice of jurisdiction, main clauses);
- learn how to effectively draft the main clauses of an international contract for the sale of goods;
- understand benefits and costs of alternative techniques of international dispute resolution;
- deal with international contracts, platforms and e-commerce.
