Week 1 follow-up emails Principles of Constitutional Law

Pubblicato: Sabato 6 aprile 2019 da Jessika Eichler

Dear all,

I am very happy we have all found our way into the module and things are clearer now, as it seems. I think we will take less and less time for administrative/organisational issues which will allow us to dive deeper into academic debates! For that matter, I have set up a survey on doodle so you can sign up for a sub-group of your choice (obviously we will stick to the seminar groups to which you signed up during our first lecture). To guarantee some form of equitable distribution and most importantly equal opportunities to voice your informed perspectives on the readings, I have limited the number for each subgroup to 7. That way approx. two people can look into each question. Please look at the readings and question and - based on that - decide for yourself what's most appealing to you. I hope all this makes sense, if not, email me as soon as you can, also to make sure there is enough time for reading preparations. We should aim for working very closely with the literature, something we can learn from this week. I will try to provide sufficient introductory background in the lecture to facilitate your preparation of the seminars, but I cannot state enough: study the literature as early as you can and take notes that will help you to stay focused and allow others to follow your insightful reflections.

One last thing: please make sure you are all registered for this course in case this hasn't happened yet.

Happy reading and email me if more questions come up!
Best wishes,
Jessika

Dear all,

Please find the recording of lecture 1 (ignore the last 10min, I forgot to pause the recording) on the course website; the following link will take you to the respective slides which should be publicly available:

Dear course participants,

I am sorry for sending this to everybody. Unfortunately I don't have access to my computer at the moment, so it would be quite a deal to find out about all group lists and including each participant manually in an email. So please accept my apologies.

Two very important things to consider for tomorrow's seminar:

1) We need to start earlier as the lecture hall will probably be occupied from 4 pm onwards. This means group III will meet from 2-3 pm and group IV will gather at 3, so we can finish at 4 pm sharp.

2) Please prepare answers to the questions of one subgroup(!). Subgroups and groups are two different things. Group refers to the time slot for your seminar (e.g. Wednesdays, 2-3) and subgroup refers to the reading group for each seminar that you are supposed to prepare for (see syllabus for each individual subgroup for each week including specific questions). If all of you have done the readings at this point and you all focussed on the same subgroup, we will just have to deal with this. Otherwise please choose any(!) sub-(reading)group for tomorrow irrespective of the (seminar) group you signed up for.

Looking forward to debating with you tomorrow.
Best wishes,
Jessika
