Dear Students,

 

some important clarifications about the essay - for those of you that are choosing this option:

• the length of your essay should range between 2.000 and 2.500 words;
• the essay should be structured as a deepening and critical analysis on the topic you previously agreed with me; you can present the main features of the issue in the first part and then provide a personal analysis in the last part;
• I will receive your papers no later than 15 days before each official exam day (May 25, June 11 and 25, July 13 and September 17); so please consider the day you will choose for your exam and take into account that 15 days before that day you will be supposed to send me your work (the first deadline is already due);
• I am accepting that you send me a "draft" version before the deadline, but please consider that it will take some days for me to review it (especially considering that many of you are now sending me their works); so please do not send me a draft just before the deadline or I will not be able to get back to you in time; also, it is important that your final work (not just the draft) is sent by the deadline;
• it is essential that your essay respects some key aspect of a "scientific" work: especially, you must indicate your bibliographical references, both in parenthesis or footnote at the end of each sentence that refers to some source and at the end of the whole work (the various articles that you read and studied for the Module provide a good example of how a scientific work is structured);
• it is also essential for you to be original: this means that for every literal quotation you must use quotation marks ("...") and cite the source; also, it is important that, in general, you reelaborate your sources; please consider that all your works will be reviewed using Turnitin and those that show an excessive percentage of "similarity" will be rejected.
