Some Updates on Module I – in Particular on the Exam of the 17th of April 2020
I hope you all are well.
Meanwhile, all documents regarding the Module I of the course unit on “Principles of Constitutional Law” have been uploaded. They contain what you need to know in order to pass the exam on Module I successfully. In case that something is not clear enough, you can send me an email for clarification. However, to make interaction possible and due to the hardships that we are facing, I would kindly ask you, first, to send emails asking for clarifications only in case that you really do not manage to resolve the problem by yourself and, secondly, to formulate the questions clearly and with inequivocable reference to the problem that should be clarified (referring to the page of the Introduction where the problem to be clarified is contained).
Although face-to-face lessons are only suspended until the beginning of April, it is quite possible that the suspension be extended beyond that date. This would make necessary to re-organize the extraordinary exam session of the 17th of April 2020 as a take-home exam. The decision will also be taken while appropriately considering the necessities of those students who might have already left Turin (what a pity, indeed!) to join their families and loved ones – which is more than understandable. Anyway, without further advice (in case that the university is still closed) and with further email advice (in case that the university has re-opened but the solution of the take-home exam is regarded as the most suitable), the take-home exam will be organized as following. At 9:00 am (Turin time = GMT + 1) on the 17th of April 2020 all students who have signed up for the exam on the website of the course unit will receive an email with the questions. The questions will also be uploaded under “Avvisi”. You will have then time until 9:00 pm (Turin time = GMT + 1) on the 17th of April 2020 to send me back your text with the answers. The text must be sent in Word format and as an attachment to an email (firstname.lastname@example.org). All text sent later than at the above-mentioned time or in a format different than Word will not be taken into account.
The exam will consist of four open questions on the contents of Module I. The dimension of your answers, taken together, shall not exceed 1,600 words (that means, approximatively, 400 words per answer, but you can also weight the distinct answers differently). All texts that exceed that dimension will not be taken into account. Each answer weights for a quarter of the final grade, i.e., up to 7.5 points. Obviously, the answers should not be a “copy and paste” of the related parts of the file containing the arguments of Module I. On the contrary, you have to express the answers with your own words. Every form of plagiarism that exceeds 20 % of the submitted text will result in a fail.
Finally, I want to reassure you that every effort is made in order to avoid any disadvantage for you as a result of the situation determined by the Covid-19. Therefore, stay calm – as far as possible – seek advice in case that you need it, and, above all, stay safe and healthy.
All the best (to you and your loved ones)
