Notification with reference to the exams of the winter session

Pubblicato: Mercoledì 27 ottobre 2021 da Sergio Dellavalle

Dear Students,

please read the following information regarding the next exam sessions carefully:

1. In order to be admitted to the exams, students have to sign up to one of the institutionally scheduled exam dates (Appelli). The exams of the winter session are scheduled as follows:

a. December 16, 2021;

b. January 20, 2022;

c. January 31, 2022;

d. February 11, 2022.

2. Since the course unit on "Principles of Constitutional Law" is divided in two Modules, the final grade of the course unit is calculated as the average of the partial results achieved in Module I and Module II. Both partial results must be positive (i.e., evaluated 18/30 or higher).

3. Students who have received positive evaluations of both Modules on the basis of the preliminary take-home exams – respectively held for Module I on the on the 6th of November 2020, and for Module II on the 4th of December 2020 – or, as regards Module II, by presenting an essay at least 15 days before the scheduled exam dates as laid down in previous instructions, only have to indicate in the note, while signing up on the institutional platform, the partial grades achieved in the preliminary take-home exams. The final grade will be automatically formalized based on the average of the two partial results: no further action or presence on the day of the institutionally scheduled exam is needed.

4. Students, who have already received a positive evaluation with reference to only one Module or have not been positively evaluated in any Module yet, will have to take a preliminary take-home exam on the Module (or Modules), for which no positive result has been achieved so far. This preliminary take-home exam will be held online ten days before the corresponding institutionally scheduled exam dates, therefore on:

a. December 6, 2021, for those students who apply for the institutionally scheduled exam date on the 16th of December 2021;

b. January 10, 2022, for those students who apply for the institutionally scheduled exam date on the 20th of January 2022;

c. January 21, 2022, for those students who apply for the institutionally scheduled exam date on the 31st of January 2022;

d. February 1, 2022, for those students who apply for the institutionally scheduled exam date on the 11th of February 2022.

5. The results of the preliminary take-home exams will be published on the Moodle and Campusnet platforms no later than three days before the corresponding institutionally scheduled exam dates. Students, who wish to discuss the results of the preliminary take-home exam on the day of the institutionally scheduled exam, are required to send their request to the teacher (or teachers) per email at least two days before the institutionally scheduled exam dates. The discussion of the results of the preliminary take-home exam will then take place on day, time and place of the institutionally scheduled exam, or online if teacher and student agree upon this solution. If no request of a discussion of the results of the preliminary take-home exam is finalized in time, the final grade will be automatically registered into the system; in this case, no further action or presence on the day of the institutionally scheduled exam is needed.

6. The above mentioned preliminary take-home exams, for those students who are required to take it, will be organized as follows:

a. Questions will be presented in an online form (using Google Forms); students will be able to access the form only by using their institutional UniTo email account (@edu.unito.it). At midnight (12 am Turin time) on the day of the preliminary take-home exam, the link to the form will be posted under "Avvisi" on Campusnet. Students will have to click on the link and access the form using their UniTo account, fill the form in and click on "submit" ("invia") to complete the exam; latest hour of submission is set at 9 p.m. (Turin time) of the day of the exam and any submission after 9 p.m. will not be considered. Students are allowed to submit their answers just one time, so that answers should be chosen carefully before submission.

b. The online form will include a first part presenting the questions of Module I and a second part presenting the questions of Module II Google Form. If a student has to be evaluated only in one Module, she/he should complete only the corresponding part of the Module, leaving the other part blank.

c. The part concerning Module I will consist of four open questions on the contents of Module I. The dimension of the answers, taken together, shall not exceed 1,600 words; all texts that exceed that dimension will not be evaluated. The answers should not be a “copy and paste” of the related parts of the file containing the arguments of Module I; on the contrary, they should contain a sufficient component of authorial input; every form of plagiarism that exceeds 20 % of the submitted text will result in a fail.

d. The part concerning Module II will consist of a set number of questions, both true-false/multiple-choice and short-answer, concerning all the materials uploaded on Moodle and the recordings of the virtual meetings (that are available on Moodle as well).
