We will again deal with the human rights protection in the EU. And we also see its impact externally on regional legal orders: like the European Convention of Human Rights and on international legal orders like the United Nations
Please think on the following questions
Why did the CJEU ruled that the EU cannot accede to the European Convention of Human Rights at Opinion 2/13?
What is principle of mutual trust and what role does it play in Opinion 2/13, Aranyosi, and LM?
When will the European Court of Human Rights interfere with the decision of the Court of Justice of the European Union according to the Bosphorus Case
What role do European human rights play in the UN legal order, according to the Kadi Case?
The reading material is:
Opinion 2/13 Draft International Agreement: Accession of the European Union to the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms, paras. 153-258:

Some of you asked for possible additional reading beyond the cases and the material I teach during the class. You can use any good text book on European Union Law and read the relevant chapters (on Direct Effect, Primacy of EU law, and Human Rights protection).
I can recommend the following book:
Gráinne de Búrca und Paul P. Craig, EU Law: Text, Cases, and Materials (OUP, 2015).
But any other text book which covers the above mentioned issues will do
I hope that this helps
Have a good reading
Looking forward for seeing you all on Thursday
