Some Further Clarifications of the Assessment Method

Pubblicato: Mercoledì 1 aprile 2020 da Sergio Dellavalle

Dear Students,

I hope you are fine and can cope with e-learning without too many difficulties – in general, and especially with reference to my course unit. In the following are some further clarifications as regards the assessment method of the course unit on Principles of Constitutional Law.

As you know, the course unit is made up of three distinct modules, so that, to pass to course unit, you have to pass the exam for each single module separately. The result that you receive for each module counts for a third of the final grade. The assessment method for Module II has been already specified by Professor Perona in a separate communication. The same will be done by Professor Canor before the starting of Module III. As for Module I, I also specified the method of assessment in a previous announcement (Avviso). To avoid misunderstandings, the exam for Module I can be taken either at one of the ordinary exam dates, starting with the 25th of May 2020 (in this case, before you take the exam for Module I you must have passed both other Modules), or at the extraordinary session of the 17th of April 2020. Please keep in mind that in the case of the extraordinary exam of the 17th of April 2020 a specific rule is applied: in contrast with the usual rule according to which the result of an exam can be simply rejected and a resit exam can be taken without prejudice, the scores obtained in the extraordinary session of the 17th of April 2020 will be taken into account to build the average with the scores of the resit exam. Therefore, on the 17th of April, if you are not sure of the quality of your work, you should not submit it via email: once I have received it, I will also evaluate it according to the above-mentioned rules. But, if you do not submit it, it is as if you would not have taken part in the exam; in other words, you do not need to cancel your registration.

After having passed the three modules separately, according to the procedures laid down by each teacher, the final grade can be registered into the system by signing up to one of the official exam dates, starting with the 25th of May 2020. In other words, you have to sign up for the exam and specify in the note the scores that you received for each single module and that you want to have your final grade registered. If you have already passed Modules II and III, but not Module I, and you want to take the exam on Module I at one of the ordinary exam dates (according to what I have said above), you only have to write the scores obtained for Modules II and III in the note. No matter what will be as regards the lockdown, in case that you have already passed all modules, no physical presence is required for the registration. Thus, everything can be managed remotely. On the contrary, in case that you still have to take the exam on Module I, it depends on whether physical presence will be allowed for that time; anyway, I will do everything I can to guarantee that take-home exams are also possible, at least for those who have already left Turin.

Stay healthy and, if you have some specific questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Best regards,

Sergio Dellavalle
