Obiettivi formativi
The Course provides advocacy-skills training in the field of public international law, international commercial law and EU law. While one goal is to prepare students for moot courts (namely Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition, Vis Willem International Commercial Arbitration Moot and European Law Moot Court), the course is open to any student interested in developing proficiency in written and oral argumentation relating to these subjects.

Risultati dell'apprendimento attesi
The course is designed as a combination of lectures, tutorials and practical training. The practical training is twofold: writing papers and presenting a case orally. The cases presented in the course concern the subjects of public international law, international commercial law and EU law. Whilst students get a practical training, amongst others in public speaking and rhetoric, they are also required to do some research on the specific case given to them. To this end, substantive law will be also analyzed and discussed to enable students to conduct independent research, distill the gathered material into persuasive arguments, and present those arguments adequately in written and oral form

Programma
The course is structured into three main modules:
- Legal writing
Participating students will be taught how to draft a memorandum, so to be able to conduct indipendent research and to present their arguments adequately and convincigly in written form. This part of the course will be developed through lectures, tutorials and practical exercises, as students will be asked to prepare written papers.
- Oral advoacy skills
Participating students will be provided with oral advocacy-skills training through a combination of lectures, mainly focusing on rhetoric and public speaking, and practical exercises. As for the latter, students will be required to engage in short public presentations.
- Mooting
Participating students will be divided into different teams performing different roles in the context of the moot court. This exercise will allow participating students to use both writing and oral skills developed in the previous modules of the course.
