Obiettivi formativi
The course is aimed at introducing students to the technical language of legal English. This language is constantly used by judges and arbitrators at both national and international levels. It also represents a fundamental instrument of international organisations, like the United Nations, in order to pursue their objectives.
The course intends to provide an introduction to the basic technical terminology currently used in the fields of law covered by the course. It also aims at providing a basic understanding of the differences between the civil law and the common law systems

Students are expected to master the essential vocabulary proper of the different fields of law covered during the course, as well as to be able to understand the different meanings that similar words have in different legal systems. Students are also expected to be able to draft basic legal documents

The course is structured in six units introducing you to the general aspects regarding English legal terminology, and to the different aspects proper of the specific legal fields covered. In each unit you will find: an introductory video, the core texts of the course followed by a short recap of each sub-unit, a final recap of the unit, and a final comprehension test. Only passing the final online test students will have access to the finale oral Exam
