Obiettivi formativi

The module provides an introduction to the notion of cultural diversity from an anthropological perspective, adopting the conceptual tools necessary to approach the comparative study of different legal systems. Culture, ethnic group, social structure, and political organizations are some of the topics that will be discussed.

Risultati dell'apprendimento attesi

The course aims to raise awareness of the extraordinary diversity of human cultures, specifically focusing on social stuctures and political organizations. A relativist gaze, necessary to address and understand relevant themes and issues in contemporary societies characterized by multiculturalism and globalization, will be adopted.

Lectures, film screenings and group discussion.

A written examination will be held togeher with the professor in charge of the legal module of the same course. 

Programma

Some of the most important conceptual tools adopted in cultural anthropology will be introduced and discussed using ethnographic examples from different geographical contexts. We will specifically focus on the following notions: 
Culture
Ethnic group
Social structure
Political organizations
Economic systems
Gender
