Obiettivi formativi
The course aims to develop an understanding of the criminological perspectives on globalization, and crime control. At the end of the course, students will have obtained knowledge of the most central debates, questions, and ideas that have shaped contemporary understanding of globalization within criminology.
Students will develop, among others, an understanding of:
- The dynamics of globalisation towards crime. The changing role of State sovereignty.
- The multiple ways in which global inequality shapes contemporary crime control strategies.
- Criminology of war
- Criminology of mobility
- The crime and the city: urbanization; crime control; social inequality and social production of harm.

- Knowledge and understanding: Students should show they are familiar with the most central debates, questions, and ideas that have shaped contemporary understanding of globalization within criminology.
- Applying knowledge and understanding: Students should be able to interpret, analyze and critically discuss the acquired knowledge on contemporary issues and controversies on crime and globalisation
- Making judgment: Students should be able to formulate and reflect on their own ideas about crime, social harm, security and justice.
- Communication skills: Students should be able to listen to the lesson actively, intervening, and asking questions and must be able to express themselves clearly, effectively, and appropriately according to the audience.

The course will be articulated in lectures with the support of video materials, ppt presentation, in class activities.

Non-attending students: Written exam with three open-ended questions.
Attending students: Compulsory written exam (test) on moodle + Elective oral exam.
Exam modalities can change according to: 1) the number of students; 2) the attendance of the course (online or in presence) and 3) exam modalities (on line or in presence). Further details would be provided in the first lecture.
