Obiettivi formativi
The aim of the course is to introduce students to an adequate knowledge of the notion of criminal proceedings and of the principles that characterize it from an European perspective.

At the end of the course students will be asked to:
- demonstrate an appropriate knowledge of principles of the criminal proceedings and of the european criminal procedural law;
- understand and use properly legal therminology related to criminal procedure;
- be able to relate the concepts learned to practical cases.

Due to the pandemic emergency, the course has been partially reshaped. Inside the Moodle platform of the course, for each week of the course (six weeks), you can find various learning materials (slides, videos, readings and a final exercise).
Those who carry out at least four final exercises with a score of 18/30 are considered attending students.

Modalità di verifica dell'apprendimento
For the attending students, the final exam will consist of an online test consisting of multiple-choice questions. The score obtained in the weekly exercises and the number of exercises performed will be taken into account in order to apply an increase of up to 3 points on the score obtained in the final exam.
For non-attending students, the final exam will be oral.
The score will be calculated on a mark scale from 18/30 to 30/30.

Programma
After an introduction to the criminal procedural law (legal families, scope of criminal trial, adversarial systems), the focus will be on:
- parties and judges: roles, powers, duties;
- legal sources of the criminal procedural law;
- right to process, rights in the proces;
- mutual legal assistance in the European Union;
- current procedural issues: mutual recognition; transborder investigation; transborder evidence gathering; e-evidence; transfer of prisoners.
