The course will offer an introduction to the common law and civil law systems and it will focus on the correct use of vocabulary and terminology of the different legal systems. It will also introduce students to the drafting techniques of legislative texts in a multilingual context and the specific use of English as lingua franca by the EU.

Students are expected to know and use in an appropriate way the legal terminology and the main legal concepts and rules belonging to both common law and civil law tradition. Students will also familiarise with the basics of legal translation in the EU multilingual context.

Face to face course
