Week 2 follow-up email Principles of Constitutional Law

Pubblicato: Sabato 6 aprile 2019 da Jessika Eichler

Dear all,

I'd like to express my continued encouragements for any future debate in the next few weeks given these major improvements in this week's seminars. I think we are on a good way and have - hopefully - been inspired by our first discussions. I am writing to you because there are quite a few organisational issues to be announced. So please read this email carefully and keep it for future reference.

1) Good news: the department in charge of room planning/schedules was happy to change our April 25 seminars (there were some clashes in terms of holiday plans for at least some of you, I believe) to April 24. Other dates would have been difficult to arrange in terms of other holidays, such as Eastern, preceding the liberation day on April 26. This means you will have a tough day I am afraid. On April 24 group I will gather from 8 to 9, group II from 9 to 10, group III from 16 to 17 and group IV from 17 to 18. All seminars are held in room D2.

2) I have been thinking about the schedule and room allocation in terms of adjusting them for our interactive, reading-based seminars. They have been able to change the rooms for our Tuesday and Wednesday sessions, please check the attached excel file for further indications, unfortunately there is no consistency in this, there will be a constant change, so please be attentive. Unfortunately they could not extend our seminars in terms of time which I deem highly necessary. So we'll do the following. Groups I and III will take place from 14:00-15:15 and groups II and IV from 15:15-16:30. We will just move outside whenever we get kicked out of the room. To compensate you for your time (in case this bothers you at all), we will cancel the seminars taking place during your take-home-exam week preceding your Easter holidays. In case you have appointments or any obligations from 16:00 onwards, please let me know at the beginning of the seminar, so your subgroup will "present" their findings in the first part(s) (15:15-16:00).

3) I was asked for providing assessment criteria regarding your participation in the seminars which I promised to have a low threshold, also given your intensive preparations each week and the challenging environment to present in. Please check the attached word file for further information. 5 seminars will be graded given that you can miss 2 and one is cancelled (see preceding point 2).

4) I created another doodle for next week, please select any which subgroup in your group and I'd very much welcome sort of equal distribution to make sure everybody gets the space/opportunity to contribute. Make also sure you stick to these groups, because we will waste time at the beginning of the seminar due to really unnecessary discussions. Make sure you get there on time, we'll apply a 10min period of tolerance starting from week 3 as this seriously interrupts our debates to the detriment of individual/group contributions.

5) I will upload the recordings of this week's lecture in a minute, to be found on the course website under teaching materials.

6) Finally, please find the respective slides for this week's lecture here:

Any questions, please email me or come to my office hours, any queries welcome including those relating to substance (!) of course!

Happy reading and best wishes,
Jessika
