Welcome to Principles of Constitutional Law Part II

Pubblicato: Mercoledì 13 marzo 2019 da Jessika Eichler

Dear prospective participants of the course module “Principles of Constitutional Law”,

I am writing to you to welcome you to this part of the course “Principles of Constitutional Law” which is going to start on Monday, March 18. The course initiates with a lecture on Monday(s) followed by seminars on Tuesday(s) and Wednesday(s).

Please have a detailed look into the syllabus and the reader. If any prior questions come up, don’t hesitate to send an email! You are also welcome to address any questions in person: office hours will take place on Wednesdays from 12:30 – 14:30 in my office close to the reception (Giurisprudenza), which currently has the following name tag on it “Andrés Gascón Cuenca and Mitja Kovac” neighbouring the office “2D292”.

We will address all organisational matters in our first session on Monday, however, please be reminded of the particular assessment style of this course. 50% of your overall grade is based on your participation in class. This means you need to prepare for all seminars (with the exception of the take home exam week preceding your Easter holidays, week 5 of the course, see syllabus). As we will be debating the literature in class next week, make sure you look at both 1) specific tasks and 2) respective readings. Not all texts are required to be read for your individual “subgroup” task, but might become relevant for exams. Your fellow students’ contributions will therefore help you to cover all the readings. Any exchange of notes (readings you do not cover in your weekly task) and reading groups are explicitly encouraged, however, be mindful of plagiarism.

Please choose one of the subgroups (I, II, III or IV) as outlined on pages 9-11 and respond to the questions outlined for each group based on the readings attached to this email. Please bring notes (and the readings if needed) to class, feel welcome to use technical devices for that purpose. An updated version of the syllabus is also attached. You will get a weekly update on this, possibly also to be posted on the department’s/programme’s website. In any case, I urge you to check your emails on a very regular basis.

Looking forward to meeting you all in person and debating with you,

happy reading,

Jessika
