Three waves of modernity, modern natural right and its crisis.
Modern natural right: Th. Hobbes, Leviathan: natural rights and natural law.
Modern natural right: Th. Hobbes, Leviathan: social contract and sovereignty.
Modern natural right: J. Locke, Two Treatises of Government: divine right of the king.
Modern natural right: J. Locke, Two Treatises of Government: natural law and government.
Crisis of modern natural right: J.-J. Rousseau, Discourse on the Origin and Basis of Inequality Among Men.

Face-to-face lectures.

All materials and assignments will be included in a Syllabus regularly implemented and uploaded on Moodle. Students attending the course must study the materials and get involved in the lectures regularly.

It is imperative that students wishing to attend the course enrol in the teaching platform (Moodle) prior to the beginning of the course, to have full access to materials and communications.

For students attending the course: preparation of a paper on one of the topics of the course.

For students not attending the course: oral examination.

 

Mandatory procedure to be considered as attending student:

  • Students must send a file with the notes taken about all the lessons of the course by 10 May 2024.
