Obiettivi formativi

The course aims at enabling the students to know and understand the means through which the European Union takes part in the life of the International Community.

Risultati dell'apprendimento attesi

Good knowledge of the essential elements of the internal foundation of the international activity of the EU as well as of the law of international institutions as applies to the EU.

Modalità di insegnamento

Lectures in classroom. Meetings will include teacher's lectures, class work on case law, and guest speakers' presentations on specific topics (the participation of the EU to some international organizations, selected policies, the global reach of EU law).

Modalità di verifica dell'apprendimento

For students attending the course: mid-term written exercise aimed at checking the level of knowledge  and understanding of the main aspects of the programme on the basis of the lectures and the work on case law, and final oral examination including questions on the guests' presentations on specific topics.

For students not attending the course: oral examination where the knowledge and understanding of the elements of the programme (see above) will be ascertained with respect to theory and case law, on the basis of the handbook chosen by the student (see recommended readings below).
